Special Interest Groups

We have within the Littleton Gem and Mineral Club, two groups that meet outside of our general meeting. They are the “Crystal Study” group and the “Faceters and Cabbers” group. Anyone is welcome to visit these groups without being a member of the Littleton Gem and Mineral Club. After you have visited three times you must become a member of the club to continue these meetings.

Mineral Study Group

The mineral study group meetings rotate among member’s homes on the 4th Wednesday of each month. They start at 7 PM and last about two hours.

Future topics of study will include, but are not limited to, single minerals (e.g. Calcite, Copper, etc.) from around the world; and the study of mineral suites from different mining localities (e.g., Tri-State Mining, Bisbee, Arizona, etc.). The group will develop other topics for study as desired.

Our meetings start in September; the time and place of the meeting will be announced in the club Newsletter and on this website in the calendar.

Faceters and Cabbers Group

The Faceters and Cabbers group meets at Columbine Hills Church the third Tuesday of each month throughout the year. The meeting starts at 7:30 and is usually over by 9:00pm.
This group has been within the club for many years. In 1999, the faceters group and the cabbers group were combined; therefore many members of this group do both faceting and cabbing. The format is informal, with show and tell, and both the beginner and expert can profit from the discussion. You will get answers, tips, techniques, hints, help and other faceting and cabbing information. If you are a beginner and you think you might like this as part of your new hobby, you are more than WELCOME. After attending a few meetings and your interest is still there, some members in this group are willing to teach you ‘how, when and why’ and will get you started.
